So today is a beast feast day and I am glad to see that a lot of critters are having a blast since a lot of zoo creatures (and other animals) are getting some extra environmental enrichment while we humans celebrate with a day of feasting ourselves.
Thanksgiving happens to be one of my favorite holidays because it is about getting together with loved ones and sharing a meal while you visit and give thanks for the many blessings in life.
So although some are feasting on roast beast (as Dr Seuss would have said) many animal pals are being given a beast feast–which you can go witness if you are so inclined.
Zoos across the United States have special events planned today and my favorite photo so far is from Cleveland Metroparks Zoo where a polar bear is occupied with a pumpkin.
I happen to like polar bears–although you might find it entertaining to know that I also have this thing about two apex predators.
The two that serious concern me happen to be the polar bear and the great white shark.
When I surfed at night under a full moon I was particularly nervous but I’ve only been around polar bears in captivity.
However, after hearing the stories from my friend who was a helicopter pilot up in Alaska and then reading The Cage, would be a bit cautious out in their habitat.
Anyway, I hope you are having a great day with your beasts–and I’ve written about Thanksgiving so many times that if you miss that, find what you are looking for at Thanksgiving Safety Tips for Pets, Thanksgiving Holiday Pet Safety Tips, or Post Thanksgiving Day Pet Safety Tips.
And, if you live in the United States or celebrate Thanksgiving–let me wish you a good one but I also want to encourage you to consider giving to causes such as Pets of the Homeless.
You can give a beast feast to homeless animals who need to enjoy a few good meals during this holiday season and get some veterinary care too.
