1. Tales from the Trips (Latest News)
===============================================
Gosh, this year is moving with amazing speed and it always amazes me how fast each month goes by.

Thanks to all of you who participated in the captive orca/captive wildlife poll. It took longer to get the minimum votes I wanted but now I am working on the article and it should be on the site this month.

Although my neighbors and I were hoping for spring, we got another snow storm on March 31st and the highs have been in the low 30s.

Most people fail to understand that life in a rural area has it challenges but is also a great change from urban life.

Locally our big challenge has been a bear that has decided that trash digging is an easier way to gather snacks that foraging through the forest.

The theory is that after the deep snow accumulation disappears, he will head for the hills again.

Urban wildlife challenges are something that are becoming more common as we encroach into the territories of wild animals and confine them into smaller and smaller areas.

They have to adapt to survive and humans would do better if we would adapt in return.

Thanks again for your support and if you are in Los Angeles, don’t forget that Saturday is the Blessing of the Animals down at Olvera Street.

Happy Tails to You & Yours,
Diana L Guerrero

2. Discussion for the Month
===============================================
One of the things I enjoy about living in the mountains above a lake is that people actually take the time to get out and enjoy nature and wildlife.

This is one of my favorite times of year because I live in a section of the Pacific Flyway and lots of migratory birds stop by on their extensive journeys.

Also, the snow melt runs off into Grout Creek which flows down into Big Bear Lake and the trout make their way up to the falls as they follow nature’s call for spawning.

This year more than others, we are really looking forward to the spring because we had lots and lots of snow.

I was shoveling out and tossing snow over my head (and this is southern California) and the firemen had to bring out the snowcat to beat down the deep snow in the roads so people could at least amble out to the local highway and get to the store.

Power was out and many people lost access to heat and water because of it.

Not me, because I always have everything I need due to my past experiences with disaster preparedness.

I hope you have prepared for the unexpected. You should have downloaded and read the animal disaster guide (only subscribers receive it) but taking action is critical to the health and wellbeing of you and your animals.

Take action to prep for the unexpected and take a moment to check out my previous video of Grout Creek.
