Deadly Dogs & Snappy Sea Lion

Two items hit the news that I thought you would find interesting. Animal trainers and behavior consultants know that the underlying cause of many problems with companion animals stem from the owners.

In the first article, proof that local dogs killed a child were obtained through laboratory analysis from UC Davis

Next, this article from Canada talks about how aggressive people are attracted to aggressive dogs...all I can say is that seems like a no brainer to those of us who work with problem animals, shelters, or law enforcement! The study analyzed public records and recently published the results in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence.

Speaking of animal attacks, remember the sea lion that was being such a pest in Northern California? Now a rogue sea lion has bitten over a dozen people and they have closed the location as a result. My opinion? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Quit feeding the wildlife or attempting to habituate them to humans because this is what happens…unless the animal is sick this used to be abnormal behavior.
