RIP Taco Bell Chihuahua Gidget

Gidget the Chihuahua that starred in numerous commercials for Taco Bell recently died at the age of 15.

Apparently the popular commercial and television animal actor passed away Tuesday evening due to a stroke while watching television with her trainer, Sue Chipperton. Gidget was owned by Karen McElhatton.

The Chihuahua began filming the Taco Bell spots that began to run on television in September 1997 and stared in other gigs such as Legally Blonde 2 (as Bruiser’s mom).

The pup was in the news after a ruling that the creators of the Chihuahua character hadn’t been properly compensated for their work…never mind the fact that animal actors seldom get royalties for their appearances…

I am wondering who got paid for the likeness over those Taco Bell Chihuahua toys like these over at Kathysfastfoodtoys.com…

Contest Promotes Capstar

If you run a boarding kennel, or board your dog in a kennel, you might find this announcement of interest:

From the contest website:

Deadline for tips is Oct. 31, 2009 and tips should be 50 words or less and can be submitted here.

Capstar is one of the products listed and discussed in Flea Control Secrets. The section on Capstar reveals that studies (on nitnpyram) reported  more than 90% effectiveness against adult fleas within four to six hours depending on the species.
