Book Club Goes Wild Over Animals

The Church of Truth welcomes a wide variety of guests. This month the animals stayed home while the book discussion group welcomed author and animal expert, Diana L. Guerrero. The intimate book club meets monthly on the church property in Pasadena, California.

The luncheon was followed by an informal chat where Guerrero shared inside information found in What Animals Can Teach Us about Spirituality (ISBN 1893361845). Club members also shared stories and their opinions on additional topics they desire to see in print..

Readers learned secrets behind many of the stories within the text and were amazed that the book was written so quickly. Most books take two to three years to hit the market. Guerrero spent three and a half months writing and her book was on the shelves in less than a year.

Congregants were excited about the prospect of another animal blessing event at their church and were privy to insider information on Guerrero's next work, Blessing of the Animals: A Guide to Prayers & Ceremonies Celebrating Pets & Other Creatures (ISBN 1402729677).

Guerrero's visit to the August book club meeting was preceded by the filming of the Charter Cable show, Truth to Tell and a Blessing of the Animals in late June. Reverend Donna Byrns dedicated the entire show to discussing What Animals Can Teach Us about Spirituality.
